This is the traditional HKK old-model-style rear backlight / number-plate mounting assembly for compatible older Royal Enfield Classic and Bullet Standard rear-mudguard layouts.

Under The Hood upgrades the HKK setup by supplying a Lumax branded square tail lamp, a new genuine Royal Enfield reflector and free beading, creating a more complete package for buyers restoring or modifying an older Classic / Standard rear end.

This kit is intended for riders who want the familiar old Royal Enfield rear appearance associated with Classic and Bullet Standard motorcycles:

• traditional large rear number-plate / backlight panel

• classic Bullet / Standard visual character

Why We Do Not Recommend Adapting This Old Version to Reborn / Battalion

Older plates can sometimes be physically adapted to newer mudguards, but doing so may require drilling or fabrication. Now that HKK has released a dedicated newer mounting version, there is no reason to permanently alter a Reborn / New Bullet mudguard just to use the older plate.

Drilling a painted mudguard can:

• permanently alter the body part
• leave visible holes if the conversion is later removed
• damage paint around the drilled area
• create exposed-metal corrosion points if not treated correctly
• cause poor alignment if measurements are inaccurate

Lumax Branded Square Tail Lamp – Not a Generic Local Lamp

Many lower-cost backlight packages are completed with unspecified local square lamps. Under The Hood supplies a Lumax branded square tail lamp with this kit.

This keeps the traditional square old-model appearance while giving the buyer a clearly identified branded lighting component.

New Genuine Royal Enfield Reflector Included

The HKK backlight / number-plate assembly itself is an aftermarket component. The reflector included by Under The Hood is a new genuine Royal Enfield reflector.

The complete kit must not be confused with a genuine Royal Enfield accessory kit: HKK plate = aftermarket; supplied reflector = genuine Royal Enfield.

Free Beading Included

Beading is supplied free for use between the rear mudguard and the backlight / plate assembly where applicable. It helps create a cleaner fitted interface and can reduce minor rubbing or vibration between adjoining surfaces.

The beading is not represented as genuine Royal Enfield unless separately identified on the supplied item.

Electra – Important Compatibility Warning

We are intentionally not advertising Electra as a normal direct-fit application for this kit.

Electra motorcycles with the chrome / silver rear mudguard can use a different rear mounting arrangement. Fitting this Classic / Standard-type HKK plate may therefore require:

• additional drilling
• custom brackets
• fabrication / spacing
• alignment changes

If you own an Electra, compare the rear mudguard and mounting holes with the product before ordering or installation.

Before Ordering – Buyer Checklist

1. Confirm your motorcycle is an older Classic or Bullet Standard rear-layout application.
2. Compare the HKK plate mounting-hole positions with your rear mudguard.
3. Check whether your existing mudguard is painted Classic / Standard style or an Electra chrome / silver layout.
4. If it is an Electra chrome mudguard, do not assume direct fit.
5. Confirm the square Lumax lamp position and wiring route.
6. Confirm the reflector position and number-plate clearance.
7. Do not drill or modify anything until the complete assembly has been trial-fitted.

Installation Guidance

1. Remove the old rear lamp / plate assembly as required.
2. Clean the rear mudguard mounting surface.
3. Trial-fit the HKK plate against existing holes before drilling anything.
4. Install the supplied beading where required.
5. Mount the Lumax square lamp and genuine RE reflector.
6. Route electrical wiring safely away from tyre contact and sharp metal edges.
7. Connect running-light, brake-light and ground circuits correctly.
8. Test the lamp functions before final tightening.
9. Check tyre, mudguard and number-plate clearances.
10. Recheck all hardware after initial use.

Older plates have been adapted that way, but we do not recommend it now. HKK has a dedicated direct-fit version for Reborn / New Bullet / Battalion.

Is the reflector genuine Royal Enfield?
