Maddog Alpha is the pure performance auxiliary light in the Maddog range – built for riders who want brutal long-range throw with a usable flood for Indian highways and ghats. Each pod packs 6 automotive-grade Nichia LEDs (Japanese tech) and together they deliver 9600 raw lumens per pair at 80W (40W each, 12V DC).
The optics are tuned to a 70% spot / 30% flood combo beam: a focused 300 m spot to read the road far ahead, with a tight halo of flood that lights up the immediate lane and road edges. This makes Alpha perfect for fast Royal Enfield and ADV touring, long-distance commuters, and riders who frequently ride on unlit highways, forest stretches and broken state roads.
A sleek gloss-black aluminium housing, optical-grade polycarbonate lens, stainless-steel clamps/fasteners and an IP67 dust & waterproof rating mean Alpha is engineered for real-world abuse – monsoons, slush, wash-downs and heat. The 5000K–5700K warm white/yellow colour temperature cuts through rain, fog and dust better than blue-white LEDs while still looking premium.
With a rated life of up to 50,000 hours and an 18-month official Maddog replacement warranty, Alpha easily outclasses cheap no-brand lights that fade or fail in a season. Under The Hood recommends pairing Alpha with a relay-based harness and proper clamps for a clean, OEM-grade install that protects your motorcycle’s electricals.

FAQs:
Q1. How is Maddog Alpha different from cheaper auxiliary lights?
Most cheap aux lights use unknown LEDs, random beam patterns and no proper sealing or warranty. Maddog Alpha uses 6 Nichia LEDs, engineered 70% spot / 30% flood combo optics, IP67 sealing, OEM-grade materials and an 18-month official warranty, making it a long-term, serviceable upgrade rather than a disposable experiment.
Q2. Will Maddog Alpha fit my Royal Enfield / Himalayan / KTM ADV / Xpulse?
Yes – Alpha is a universal 12V auxiliary light. It can be installed on most bikes that have a stable 12V DC system and a safe mounting point on the crash guard, fork, or aux-light stay. Clamps and harness selection may vary by bike; contact Under The Hood with your model for fitment guidance.
Q3. Do I need a separate wiring harness or can I tap into the stock headlight?
Because Alpha is an 80W high-power pair, it should not be spliced into stock headlight wiring. A dedicated relay harness with inline fuse is compulsory to protect your switches, ECU and wiring and to get full brightness without voltage drop.
Q4. Is Maddog Alpha waterproof for monsoon and off-road use?
Yes. Alpha carries an IP67 rating and uses a sealed aluminium housing with polycarbonate lens and stainless hardware. When installed correctly, it is safe for heavy rain, slush, water splashes and pressure wash from a sensible distance.
Q5. What is the warranty on Maddog Alpha and how do I claim it?
Maddog Alpha comes with an 18-month limited replacement warranty against manufacturing defects. Keep your Under The Hood invoice; in case of any issue, contact us with photos/video and we will coordinate with Maddog’s technical team for inspection and claim processing.
