Is your Apache RTR 180 chain sounding dry, jerky or stretched even after repeated adjustments? That’s your stock drivetrain asking for retirement. The Rolon Chain & Sprocket Kit HNBOR 148 is a genuine, model-specific replacement kit designed exclusively for TVS Apache RTR 180 (180cc).

This kit uses a 428 pitch O-ring chain with 130 links and precision-cut steel sprockets – 14T front and 46T rear – exactly as specified in Rolon’s own catalog for Apache 180. The O-ring design seals lubricant inside the chain, reducing friction, resisting rust and giving your RTR smoother power delivery through the rev range – from city commutes to highway pulls.

Compared to cheap local kits, Rolon’s tight manufacturing tolerances mean less chain slap, quieter operation and slower stretch, so you spend more time riding and less time re-adjusting.

Buying from Under The Hood adds another layer of confidence: we stock only 100% genuine Rolon kits, ship them carefully packed, and our workshop team actually installs these on customer bikes daily. Pair this kit with a fresh chain lube/cleaner combo and (optionally) an NGK plug upgrade to completely refresh your RTR’s acceleration and reliability.

Key Features

  • Exact Rolon Kit Code: HNBOR 148 – dedicated to TVS Apache RTR 180 (180cc).

  • Correct OEM-spec gearing: Front sprocket 14 teeth, rear sprocket 46 teeth for the factory feel and speedometer accuracy.

  • 428 O-Ring chain, 130 links: Reduced friction, better sealing and longer life compared to standard non-sealed chains.

  • High-strength alloy steel sprockets: Induction-hardened teeth for excellent wear resistance under hard acceleration.

  • Corrosion-resistant finish: Special coating on sprockets plus anti-rust treatment on chain for Indian monsoon and daily use.

  • Reduced noise & vibration: Rolon’s tight tolerances give smoother meshing, less chain slap and a more refined ride.

  • Better power transfer: Anti-wear design helps the bike put more of its 180cc power to the rear wheel, especially noticeable on roll-on acceleration.

  • Made in India by Rolon: One of India’s most trusted chain & sprocket manufacturers with OEM and export presence.

  • Under The Hood advantage: Genuine stock, GST invoice, secure packaging and rider support from a performance-focused workshop.

Installation & Maintenance Notes

  • Recommended to install at a professional workshop; replacing chain and both sprockets together prevents premature wear.

  • Always align the rear wheel and set correct chain slack as per TVS Apache RTR 180 owner’s manual after installation.

  • For longest life, clean the chain every 500–800 km (or sooner in rain), using kerosene or a dedicated chain cleaner – avoid petrol.

  • Lube the chain after each wash / wet ride and every 500–700 km with quality chain lube; don’t over-spray on tyre or brake.

  • Never mix a new chain with old sprockets or vice versa – it accelerates wear and may cause skipping under load.

  • After first 200–300 km on the new kit, recheck slack as the chain beds in.

FAQs

Q1. Will Rolon HNBOR 148 fit my TVS Apache RTR 160 or 200?
No. HNBOR 148 is specific to the Apache RTR 180 (180cc) chain–sprocket combination. Apache 160/200 and 160 4V/200 4V use different kits with other part numbers and tooth counts. Please search our store for the exact kit for your model.

Q2. Is this gearing same as stock or does it change acceleration / top speed?
This kit uses stock-spec 14T front and 46T rear sprockets with 428 pitch chain, matching OEM gearing. Expect restored smoothness and acceleration, not an extreme change in RPM vs speed – perfect if your old kit is worn out.

Q3. How long will this Rolon kit last on an Apache RTR 180?
Life depends on riding style and maintenance, but Rolon’s O-ring construction and hardened sprockets typically outlast cheap local kits. With regular cleaning and lubrication, many riders comfortably see 20,000+ km under mixed city–highway use.

Q4. Can I fit just the chain and keep my old sprockets?
Technically possible, but not recommended. Old sprockets have hooked teeth that quickly wear out a new chain, leading to noise and uneven stretch. For best results, always replace chain and both sprockets together.

Q5. How do I know if my current kit needs replacement?
Signs include frequent re-adjustment, tight and loose spots, visible rust, hooked sprocket teeth, clunking during acceleration, or chain jumping under load. If you see these, it’s time to upgrade to a new Rolon kit.
