If your KTM Duke 250 or Husqvarna 250 has started feeling jerky, noisy or rough on acceleration, the Rolon HXR 254 X-Ring Chain & Sprocket Kit is the exact OEM-ratio upgrade your bike needs. Designed specifically for the KTM 250 platform, this kit pairs a heavy-duty R520 HXR 112-link X-Ring chain with 14T front and 46T rear sprockets – the same gearing your bike came with from the factory, so you retain stock acceleration, top speed and rideability.
Rolon uses carbon steel sprockets with induction-hardened teeth, zinc coating and shot-blasted surfaces for superior wear resistance, corrosion protection and smoother meshing – ideal for Indian heat, dust and rain. The X-Ring chain reduces friction and seals in lubrication better than standard O-Ring or non-sealed chains, giving quieter operation and longer life when maintained correctly.
This HXR 254 kit is confirmed for KTM Duke 250 (pre-Gen3) and Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 / Svartpilen 250 that share the same 14/46 gearing, 112-link chain and six-hole rear hub pattern. It’s built for daily commuting, spirited highway rides and touring with luggage or pillion.
Buying from Under The Hood means you get 100% genuine Rolon stock, carefully packed for transit, rider-level support on WhatsApp, and the option to get the kit professionally installed at our Varanasi studio (subject to appointment). This is the kit we’d run on our own bikes.

Installation & Maintenance Notes
-
Professional fitment recommended: If you don’t have chain tool experience, get the kit installed by a qualified mechanic or at Under The Hood studio in Varanasi (by appointment).
-
Check orientation: Ensure sprocket dish and any rubber dampers (if used) face the correct side as per OEM fitment.
-
Torque & alignment: Always torque front and rear sprocket bolts to OEM specs and align rear wheel so chain runs centrally on both sprockets.
-
Chain slack: After installation, adjust chain slack to the range recommended in your bike’s owner’s manual (typically ~25–30 mm for the KTM 250 platform when measured mid-span).
-
Running-in: Ride gently for the first 100–200 km to let the chain and sprockets bed in before full-throttle / aggressive riding.
-
Cleaning interval: Clean the chain every 500–700 km in normal use, or sooner if you ride in heavy rain, mud or off-road. Use a proper chain cleaner or kerosene and a soft brush – never petrol or harsh solvents that can damage X-Rings.
-
Lubrication: Lube the chain after every wash, and every 500–700 km with a good motorcycle chain lube (you can internally link to your chain lube/cleaner products).
-
Replacement time: Replace the kit when you see hooked teeth, stiff links, uneven stretch or when the chain can be pulled away from the rear sprocket significantly.
FAQs
Q1. Will Rolon HXR 254 fit my KTM Duke 250 Gen3?
A. No. HXR 254 is designed for the earlier KTM Duke 250 platform up to around 2023. LRL Motors and other sellers clearly mark this kit as not compatible with Duke 250 Gen3 due to different rear hub/sprocket mounting. For Gen3 you must buy a dedicated Gen3-specific kit.
Q2. Does this kit change my bike’s gearing or performance?
A. No. HXR 254 uses 14T front / 46T rear sprockets with a 112-link chain, which matches the stock ratio on Duke 250 and Husqvarna 250 models listed. You get fresher, smoother power delivery and reduced noise, but your basic acceleration, top speed and cruising RPM remain OEM-correct.
Q3. Is this an original Rolon kit or a local duplicate?
A. This is a 100% genuine Rolon chain & sprocket kit, sourced from authorised distribution – the same HXR-254 kit sold by top online stores and listed in the official Rolon catalog. Under The Hood does not deal in loose or unbranded chain sprocket copies.
Q4. Will HXR 254 fit Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250?
A. Yes. Multiple sellers, including dedicated Husqvarna listings, sell HXR-254 as the X-Ring kit for Vitpilen 250 and Svartpilen 250, with the same 14/46 sprocket combo and 112-link R520 HXR chain. Just confirm that your bike still uses the OEM 14/46 setup and 6-hole rear hub before placing the order.
Q5. What else should I buy along with this chain kit?
A. For best results, pair this kit with a good chain cleaner + chain lube combo and consider fresh sprocket carrier dampers if your rear hub has play. Under The Hood can recommend products and create combos (for example: Rolon kit + premium chain lube + cleaner + brush) to keep your new kit running smoothly for tens of thousands of kilometres.
