The genuine Royal Enfield 140333/C – PAWL is the little sintered “dog” inside the kick-start mechanism that actually catches and drives the kick-start gear. Royal Enfield’s own catalog shows 140333 → 140333/B → 140333/C as the current replacement, so this is the latest revision of that pawl family.

Because it’s OEM and sintered to factory spec, the tooth form and thickness match the kick gear, so it engages cleanly and won’t chew the gear the way soft pattern pawls can. Fit this when your kick lever slips, half-engages, or makes a clack on the way down – a rounded pawl is the usual cause. For best results, replace the plunger, spring and circlip in the same operation, as shown in RE’s kick-starter diagram.

FAQs

Q1. My kick lever goes down but doesn’t turn the engine – will this fix it?
Most likely yes – worn pawls are the classic cause of slip on RE kickers. Replace pawl + spring.

Q2. Do I need to open the primary/inner cover?
Yes, RE’s own guide shows removing outer & inner cover to access the pawl.

Q3. Is 140333/C stronger than 140333/B?
It’s the current, factory supply for the same function, so order /C wherever the fiche shows 140333 or 140333/B.

Q5. How many do I buy?
1 pc per bike – but workshops keep 2–3 in stock because it’s a small, high-wear part.
