Genuine Royal Enfield Rear Wheel Bearing, O-Ring & Grease Seal Kit – 888080

Royal Enfield part 888080 is an original rear-wheel bearing and seal maintenance kit for selected older drum-brake rear-wheel hub and sprocket-carrier assemblies. It groups the bearing and sealing components used around the hub, helping a mechanic identify the correct replacement family without ordering from generic bearing dimensions alone.

Important fitment point: this is not a universal kit for every Classic, Bullet, Electra or Thunderbird. Check the rear brake type, hub design and exact bearing/seal part numbers before purchase. Models with a rear disc brake or later-generation chassis may have a different assembly.

Part identification

Manufacturer Royal Enfield
Kit part number / MPN 888080
OEM description Bearing, O-Ring & Seal Kit – Rear Wheel Drum

Individual quantities Refer to original sealed kit contents; do not infer them from the wheel-assembly catalogue quantities

OEM kit component references

The genuine kit breakdown identifies the following five different component part numbers. Each refers to a different bearing or sealing component; the list does not establish sealed-pack piece counts.

Part number Component Specification / identification
145553/B Double-sided rubber-sealed bearing, 6005-series 25 × 47 × 12 mm
146256/A Rear hub / sprocket O-ring Confirm original profile
150324/A 6203 sealed wheel bearing 17 × 40 × 12 mm
141109/1 Grease seal 25 × 40 × 7 mm
141113/1 Grease seal 47.12 × 30.23 × 7 mm (catalogue description)

Do not confuse the two bearing types: 145553/B is the larger 6005-series double-sided sealed bearing (25 × 47 × 12 mm), while 150324/A is the 6203 wheel bearing (17 × 40 × 12 mm). They fit different locations in the hub/sprocket assembly and are not interchangeable. The two grease seals also have different specifications.

Which Royal Enfield motorcycles use 888080?

The following are older-generation rear-drum applications supported by genuine-parts catalogues. Select the model and rear-wheel hub, not just the motorcycle badge or engine size.

Motorcycle Fitment notes
Classic 350 UCE – rear drum Supported by older UCE rear-wheel catalogue; verify hub part numbers and brake type
Classic 500 EFI/UCE – rear drum Supported by older UCE rear-wheel catalogue; do not apply automatically to later rear-disc versions
Bullet 350 UCE KS / ES – rear drum Supported by UCE rear-wheel catalogue; verify current hub and seal revisions
Bullet 500 UCE / EFI – rear drum 888080 directly listed in Bullet 500 rear-wheel catalogue
Electra 350 UCE ES – rear drum Supported by UCE rear-wheel catalogue; match wheel/hub configuration
Thunderbird Twinspark 350 / 500 – rear drum 888080 directly listed in Thunderbird rear-wheel drum catalogues

Applications requiring separate verification

Earlier/pre-UCE Bullet drum-hub motorcycles, different year-specific wheel assemblies, and other Royal Enfield models may share individual bearing numbers. Sharing one bearing does not confirm 888080 kit fitment. Compare all five component references with the motorcycle’s rear-wheel EPC or original disassembled parts.

Not for these configurations without separate OEM confirmation

  • Rear disc-brake versions of Classic or Thunderbird with different wheel hub layouts
  • Classic 350 Reborn (J-Series), New Bullet 350 J-Series, Meteor 350 or Hunter 350
  • Himalayan 411, Himalayan 450, Scram 411/440 or Guerrilla 450
  • Interceptor / Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, Shotgun 650, Classic 650 or Bear 650
  • Front-wheel bearing service — this is a rear-wheel drum kit

Why a rear-wheel bearing and seal kit may be needed

Damaged seals may admit dust and moisture to the hub. Worn wheel or sprocket-carrier bearings can cause roughness, unusual rumbling or excessive play. Similar symptoms can also arise from wheel alignment, chain tension, cush rubbers or axle/spacer issues, so have the rear assembly inspected before ordering replacement parts.

What you receive / what is not included

Supplied product: 1 × Royal Enfield genuine Bearing, O-Ring & Seal Kit – Rear Wheel, part 888080, referring to the five OEM component numbers above. Individual piece counts and any packing differences must be checked against the genuine sealed retail package.

Not listed in the kit breakdown: rear wheel, wheel axle/spindle, chain and sprocket set, brake shoes, brake drum, cush rubbers, hub spacers, chain adjusters, grease or workshop labour. These are not promised as part of this sale.

Installation and pre-purchase checks

  1. Confirm the rear wheel uses the drum-brake hub shown in the correct model EPC.
  2. Check existing bearings against 6005 and 6203 specifications and confirm each bearing’s position.
  3. Match both grease seals and O-ring by OEM reference and dimensions; measure the hub if records are incomplete.
  4. Inspect the rear-hub seating surfaces, bearing spacers, axle and sprocket-carrier bearing pocket for damage.
  5. Use correct bearing pressing tools, install seals in the specified orientation and follow the model’s workshop-manual axle tightening instructions.
  6. Check rear-wheel rotation, brake action, chain alignment and free play before riding.

Professional installation is recommended. Do not force bearings into mismatched hub bores or reuse deformed seals. Torque values depend on the motorcycle and must come from the relevant workshop manual.

Related parts to check

Rear axle, internal spacers, rear hub, sprocket carrier, cush-drive rubbers, wheel-adjuster hardware, brake shoes and drum surface. These are separate parts, not automatically supplied with 888080.

Before you order

Check your motorcycle’s exact model/year, rear brake type, wheel assembly and original part numbers. Correctly supplied spares are generally not returnable for an incorrect selection, mismatched diagnosis or change of mind once order processing has begun. Claims for missing, wrong or damaged items must be supported by a complete unboxing video and raised within 24 hours of delivery, in line with Under The Hood policy.

Frequently asked questions

Is 888080 a front wheel bearing kit?

No. It is the genuine rear-wheel drum bearing, O-ring and seal kit.

Does it fit Classic 350 UCE?

The older Classic 350 UCE rear-drum wheel catalogue supports this component family. Confirm the exact hub configuration and part numbers.

Does it fit Classic 500?

It is supported for older Classic 500 EFI/UCE rear-drum assemblies. Do not assume later rear-disc variants use this kit.

Can I use it on Bullet 350 Standard?

Older Bullet 350 UCE rear-drum assemblies are supported. Match the hub and original bearings/seals before ordering.

Does Bullet 500 use it?

Yes, part 888080 is listed in the Bullet 500 rear-wheel drum catalogue.

What about Electra 350?

Older Electra 350 UCE drum configurations are supported in the UCE rear-wheel catalogue; verify your wheel specification.

What about Thunderbird?

The older Thunderbird Twinspark rear-drum catalogue identifies 888080. Later rear-disc configurations should be verified separately.

Does the kit contain both 6005 and 6203 bearings?

The OEM kit breakdown identifies 145553/B (6005) and 150324/A (6203). Exact sealed-pack piece counts must be confirmed.

How many 6203 bearings are in the packet?

The wheel-assembly catalogue may show quantities used on the motorcycle, but that does not establish the retail packet count. Please verify the sealed package.

Are O-ring and grease seals the same thing?

No. O-ring 146256/A and grease seals 141109/1 and 141113/1 are distinct components with different installation positions.

Is this for the J-Series Classic 350?

No J-Series application has been verified for this older rear-drum kit.

Can a mechanic install this without a bearing press?

Bearing installation requires appropriate tools and correct support of the hub; professional installation is recommended.

Will this eliminate rear-wheel noise?

Only if worn bearings or seals are the actual cause. Inspect the entire rear-wheel assembly before replacement.

Does the kit include axle, brake shoes or cush rubbers?

No such components appear in the supplied OEM kit breakdown.
