Royal Enfield UCE 500 & Continental GT 535 Clutch Friction and Plain Plate Kit – 888102

What the Clutch Plate Pack Does

The clutch transmits engine torque to the gearbox by clamping alternating friction and plain plates together. Pulling the clutch lever releases clamping pressure so the plates can separate and interrupt power transmission for starting, stopping and gear changes.

Worn or glazed friction material can allow the engine speed to rise without a matching increase in road speed. Warped or heat-damaged plain plates can prevent clean disengagement and contribute to clutch drag, difficult neutral selection or harsh engagement.

What You Will Receive

1 × Genuine Royal Enfield clutch plate kit – 888102

  • 7 × clutch friction plates
  • 6 × steel/plain clutch plates

Clutch springs, spring holder, hub, basket, bearings, pressure components, cable, pushrod, side-cover gasket, engine oil, filter and installation labour are not included.

When Should the Clutch Plates Be Replaced?

  • Engine speed increases under acceleration but road speed does not rise proportionally
  • Clutch slips more noticeably in higher gears or under heavy load
  • Friction plates are below the model-specific service limit
  • Friction material is glazed, burned, oil-contaminated or physically damaged
  • Plain plates are warped, blue from heat or scored beyond service limits
  • Clutch drag remains after cable and release-mechanism adjustment is confirmed
  • The plate stack has been mixed, incorrectly assembled or damaged during previous work

Diagnostic Note

Clutch slip or drag does not always mean the plates are defective. Before ordering, check clutch-cable free play, cable condition and routing, release mechanism, pushrod adjustment, spring free length, hub and basket wear, plate stack order, engine-oil specification and previous installation quality.

A cable adjusted with no free play can hold the clutch partially released and imitate worn plates. Heavy or incorrect oil, a notched basket, weak springs or warped hard parts can also prevent correct operation. Diagnose the complete clutch assembly before replacing the plate pack.

Installation Notes

  • Professional installation is strongly recommended for this internal engine / transmission component.
  • Secure the motorcycle, allow the engine to cool and follow the applicable model workshop procedure.
  • Drain or contain engine oil as required before opening the clutch compartment.
  • Record the old plate sequence, orientation and any model-specific special plate position during removal.
  • Inspect the hub, basket slots, pressure components, springs, release mechanism, cable and bearings before installing new plates.
  • Prepare the friction plates using the lubrication procedure and oil specified for the motorcycle.
  • Install the complete plate stack in the exact factory sequence; do not omit a plate or mix an incomplete old set into the new kit.
  • Replace damaged seals or gaskets and use only the prescribed fastener sequence and torque values.
  • Refill with the correct engine oil and adjust clutch-cable free play to the model specification.
  • Verify disengagement, engagement, oil level and leaks before road use.
  • Perform the initial operational test in a controlled area and stop immediately if slip, drag or abnormal noise remains.

Important Return-Prevention Check

Before opening the package, confirm all of the following:

  • The required exact part number is 888102
  • The motorcycle uses the applicable UCE 500 or GT 535 seven-friction-plate clutch
  • The required pack contains 7 friction plates and 6 plain plates
  • The motorcycle is not a standard UCE 350 requiring kit 597459
  • The clutch assembly has not been modified or converted to another plate stack
  • The fault is not caused only by cable adjustment, weak springs, basket wear, release parts or incorrect oil

We do not offer exchanges. A correctly supplied item is not returnable or refundable after delivery, opening, oil contact, installation, testing or use. Wrong engine-capacity selection, ordering this 500/535 kit for a UCE 350, or incorrect clutch diagnosis does not make the supplied part incorrect. Record a complete unboxing video and report a wrong, missing or transit-damaged item within 24 hours with the required proof.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in Royal Enfield kit 888102?

The kit contains seven clutch friction plates and six steel/plain plates, giving a complete 13-plate pack for the applicable seven-plate clutch.

Does 888102 fit the Royal Enfield Classic 500?

Yes, for the applicable Classic 500 EFI/UCE seven-plate clutch that specifies part 888102. Confirm the old part number and plate count before opening the package.

Does it fit the Bullet 500?

Yes, it is catalogued for applicable Bullet 500 EFI/UCE seven-plate clutch assemblies, including Euro 4 parts-book applications.

Does it fit the Thunderbird 500 or Thunderbird X 500?

Yes, the Thunderbird 350/500 factory catalogue specifies 888102 for the 500cc seven-plate clutch and a different kit for the 350cc six-plate clutch.

Does it fit the Continental GT 535?

Yes, 888102 is shown for both Euro 3 and Euro 4 Continental GT 535 clutch assemblies.

Does it fit the Classic 350 or Bullet 350 UCE?

No. The standard UCE 350 clutch uses six friction plates and five plain plates, with kit 597459 shown in the factory catalogue.

Will it fit the Continental GT 650 or Interceptor 650?

No. The 650 Twins use a different engine and clutch assembly.

Are clutch springs included?

No. Springs and all clutch hard parts are separate. Inspect the springs because weak or uneven springs can cause clutch slip even with new plates.

Is the clutch-cover gasket included?

No gasket is included. Select the correct model-specific gasket or seal separately after checking the motorcycle's clutch-cover arrangement.

Will new plates automatically fix clutch slipping?

Only when worn, glazed or contaminated plates are the diagnosed cause. Incorrect free play, weak springs, basket wear, release problems or unsuitable oil can produce similar symptoms.

Should the friction plates be prepared before installation?

Yes. Follow the model-specific workshop procedure for oil preparation and assembly. Installing dry plates or using the wrong lubricant can damage the new clutch pack.
